Tammy Gattis worked on Capital Hill for the Honorable John Paul Hammerschmidt as Director of Special Projects from 1982 until 1986 when she entered law school. She graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville in the 1989.
After graduation, she clerked for Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Tom Glaze from 1989-1990 assisting in the writing of opinions for Judge Glaze. After clerking for Judge Glaze, Ms. Gattis took a position as Pulaski County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney handling anywhere from 25-60 bench trials a week.
In 1993, Ms. Gattis went into private practice forming the law practice of Gattis & Green, P.A. and practiced in the areas of family law, business law, probate, social security disability and appeals until 1998 when she was offered a position as Assistant General Counsel for the Arkansas Secretary of State. In that capacity, she was responsible for providing legal assistance in the business filing office which oversees the filing of domestic and foreign business entities such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. She was also responsible for providing legal advice in the UCC filing office and Trademark filing office. She lobbied extensively before the Arkansas Legislature in these areas.
As Assistant General Counsel for the Arkansas Secretary of State, Ms. Gattis lectured at continuing legal education seminars in areas of Commercial Law, Business Entity formation and filing and Trademarks. Ms. Gattis was instrumental in the passage of Revised Article Nine in Arkansas in 2001 and helped each of the Circuit Clerk’s Offices in the State, as well as the Arkansas Secretary of State, implement and computerize the filing of UCC liens.
Ms. Gattis reentered private practice in 2003 and has been offering legal services in the areas of Family Law including Child Custody, Divorce, Child Support, Alimony, Visitation, Relocation, Divorce of Covenant Marriage, Military Divorce, Judicial Separation (also called Separate Maintenance), Grandparent’s Rights, Paternity, Newborn/Step-Parent Rights, Dependency Neglect Actions, Maltreatment Registry Appeals; Probate Law including Guardianships, Adoptions, and Wills and Trusts; Appeals for 20 years.
